Nestled in the heart of San Jose, Jubba Somali Restaurant stands out as a remarkable East African dining destination. Diners rave about its flavorful dishes, notably the Sambusa—an enticing blend of vegetables, hot peppers, and beef that offers a unique departure from traditional samosas. The Jubba Wraps, particularly the marinated beef and grilled fish options, are culinary highlights, celebrated for their tenderness and expert seasoning. Carissa praises the substantial flavors found in the Sports Platter, which combines beef suqaar and roasted goat, served with rice and chapatti—perfect for sharing and boasting generous portions. J. echoes this, mentioning the restaurant’s neighborhood charm, despite some minor service hiccups and the warmth inside due to a lack of air conditioning. The Kay Kay, served with a hint of sweetness from banana, further enhances the experience, appealing to those seeking an authentic taste of Somali cuisine. While Umar Bhutta found the chicken rice dish outstanding, he noted some inconsistency in the rice quality. Overall, Jubba Somali Restaurant presents a straightforward yet satisfying experience that captures the essence of Somali food. The welcoming atmosphere, coupled with hearty meals, makes it a must-visit for both locals and newcomers eager to explore East African flavors. The combination of tender meats, vibrant spices, and ample portions ensures that every visit leaves a lasting impression.

Food was amazing with lots flavor and so tender. So impressed with the Sambusa and got the sports plater with beef suqaar and roasted goat with rice & chapati. This was for 2 people and there were leftovers too. Loved the tea as well, will be back!

This restaurant is a neighborhood gem. Sitting besides VTA station, very close to residential zones. Food is awesome! The beef and lamb are on the fatty side, but the seasoning and cooking is really good. Sambusa is special and delicious. It is a mix of veggies, hot peppper and beef. Not like lamb samosa in Central Asia or potato samosa in India. All dishes we ordered are spicy except for Kay Kay! Banana brings sweetness to this dish. Services are ok. Basically you order, take a number card then find a seat. The staff did not check too often, we waited a while for table cleaning. But it is ok. The only complain is that they do not turn on AC! It was very hot inside the store. But only limited sitting outside.

One of the top food spots. Chicken rice dish was insanely amazing. Goat was okay. My friend says the beef is great too. Rice was stale but isn’t always.

Its a literal gem. The food was delicious. Very straight forward concept. Order at the counter, give you a number and they bring your food at the table. Will definitely go again.

Food was great! Random location and resturant itself doesn't look that nice. You order at the counter. All the food was amazing and such large portions. The kay key and beef suqaar were the best.

Discover the flavors of Africa at this fantastic halal restaurant! Their Somalian dishes are incredibly tasty and flavorful. I have tried everything on the menu, and each dish has been a delight. The Roasted Goat Cutlet with Rice is my absolute favorite. If you are planning to dine here, be sure to set aside some time, as the chefs take their time to prepare each meal to perfection.

This place is good but actually the food isn't that interesting. I've had everything but the goat cutlet (very popular in Somalia). Actually I think their chapati bread is fantastic and the chicken wrap and tilapia and vegetables are kind of like going to a Chinese restaurant. The samusa with cabbage in it is good too but actually for African stuff I still prefer selam restaurant across town. It isn't as expensive and has more variety. This place everything is more than 20 and it takes at least 30 minutes for them to prepare or cook the food.
